PoW Alara is a wide sans serif which pays tribute to “Pharaon”, a slab serif published by Deberny & Peignot in the 1930s in France. In addition to its overall proportions and visible contrast, PoW Alara expresses some idiosyncracies from the roughness of 20th century slab serif fonts. It offers a hybrid mix between the expected simplicity of a sans serif typeface and old-school details like slab punctuation, symbols or quirky letter structures. The flared and enclosed terminals on open letters balance its distinct vertical contrast. [proof-of-words.com]
