LTC Caslon is a stalwart serif design inspired by the typefaces cut by William Caslon in 1720. Since then, various versions of these faces have come in and out of style but are always regarded as a classic type style; thus, the famous quip: “When in doubt, use Caslon.” In remastering this font in 2005, Paul D. Hunt completely redrew the characters, keeping his design closer to the original Caslon, which included adding long and short descenders, making it suitable for text and display use. [p22.com]
