Huemul Slab is a homage to Clarendon and Rockwell. While both typefaces feature powerful slab serifs, their proportions differ significantly. Clarendon has proportions based on transitional typefaces, giving it a more even and wider structure, whereas Rockwell follows classic proportions, resulting in greater variation between letterforms. Huemul Slab bridges the character of Rockwell with the more modern proportions typical of transitional typefaces, achieving a contemporary look. The result is a low-contrast typeface with aligned heights, ready for modern use but with a touch of classic elegance. [wtypefoundry.com]
