F37 Caligari

Blackletter is a genre steeped in history and ripe for modernisation. Unfortunately, while it is a highly evocative genre it is often overlooked these days. At F37 we decided to fill this gap in our library with F37 Caligari. Named after the titular character of the first true horror film, the font is as vivid and expressive as its namesake. We based F37 Caligari on a traditional Textura hand, a style constrained by limitations. However, we embraced these limitations for a modern audience, dialling up the angularity and sharpness of the style well past anything a medieval scribe would dare to do. F37 Caligari is available in six weights. Throughout the weights, the energy of the font changes. The lighter weights are made up of uniform and parallel strokes, while the heavier weights from flared and lively strokes.
