Alembert draws its influence from the work of the Maîtres écrivains (master writers) of 17th and 18th century France, particularly the Bâtardes and Coulées script models. It can be seen to bridge the gap between typographic italics, Roman type companions, and the Anglaise1 script (copperplate script) that emerged in the 19th century. Offering a warmer, less rigid alternative to the Anglaise script, Alembert adds a refined touch to graphic projects. It pairs beautifully with historical typefaces in the Typofonderie library like PS Fournier, Ambroise, and Arsen, allowing for sophisticated typographic blends that reflect the richness of vintage packaging, publishing, and posters.
